Just because an app or a website asks for access to your daily movements, address book, or photo library doesn't mean you have to give it. If the app will still work without access to your contacts, you can and should refuse permission. Your data is very valuable, and the amount of your information that apps and corporations harvest is scary. Think about changing your browser or adding an extension that blocks the most common advert trackers.
