The Department of Companion Animals at the Atlantic Veterinary College will be interviewing two candidates for the open tenure-track faculty position in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Our first candidate, Dr. Melanie Craven, will be interviewing (virtually) on Monday, August 16, and Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Dr. Craven received her BVetMed degree in 1998 from the Royal Veterinary College in London, UK.  She then completed a one-year general internship (1999-2000) followed by a four-year small animal medicine residency program (2000-2004) at the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School in Edinburgh, UK. Dr. Craven also completed a PhD in Clinical Sciences (2006-2010) and a post-doctorate in comparative gastroenterology (2010-2011) at Cornell University and then accepted an Immunology Fellowship (2011-2013) in the Clinical Centre, National Institutes of Health in Washington, DC.  She has worked as a small animal internist at various clinics in the UK and Hong Kong. Most recently, she was an Associate Professor in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatchewan. Dr. Craven has a diploma in small animal medicine from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and is board-certified by the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Companion Animals).

As part of the interview process, Dr. Craven has been asked to present two seminars--one a 50-minute presentation suitable for third-year DVM students and the other a 30-minute presentation based on her research interests.
