Campus Food Bank Update

Posting Date(s)

We usually see an increase in traffic at the UPEI Campus Food Bank in November and a pandemic year is no different. In September and October, we welcomed 200 students monthly. November saw an increase of close to 100 visits. Seasonal schedule changes and bubbles bursting in December leave several people nervous about food security. Stocking up is a common practice.

While you are already out shopping, why not add a few items to your shipping cart? Popular items are peanut butter, tuna, rice, pasta, spices, cereal, canned and frozen vegetable and fruit. An added candy cane or chocolate Santa treats are welcome also!

We are happy to arrange pick up at your campus work place if that helps! Work areas are coordinating efforts for food drive, Christmas stockings, and other surprises. I am an email away if you have questions or donation ideas.

Thanks to ITSS for our new phone and an app for contact tracing. Thanks to the Applied Human Science Society for weekly drop offs of baked goods. Thanks to our many volunteers who are present to our students each time we open.  And thanks to the many who designated their Giving Tuesday gift to the UPEI Campus Food Bank.
