Call for judges - PEI Science Fair Wednesday, April 1, 2020

The PEI Science Fair is fast approaching and we need support from the science and engineering community on PEI for judging this important event.  Anyone with an interest in science can be a great judge to help make the experience fun and meaningful for the young people who have taken the time to explore project-based learning in science.

Please forward this call to anyone that you think may be interested in judging.  We are seeking to increase the number of judges this year to provide a better experience for the participants and the judges.

The Fair will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre at UPEI.  Judging takes place from 8:30 to Noon and a pizza lunch will be provided.  We need a small number of judges for a second round in the afternoon as well.

A typical judging experience is to arrive before 8:30 and find your team; judge several projects and then gather with your team to rank and score them; hand in your results before noon; finally, enjoy pizza and conversation with fellow science professionals and enthusiasts.

This years fair will have students from grades 4 to 12 participating.  Students in grades 7 to 12 have the opportunity to be sent to the Canada Wide Science Fair in Edmonton, Alberta. (Many of you will recall the 2012 Canada Wide Science Fair that we hosted here in Charlottetown).

If you are willing to judge, please contact Barry Linkletter at judge.peisf@gmail.com and more information will be provided.
