Sessional Instructor - Faculty of Nursing (Fall 2019)
The Faculty of Nursing, University of Prince Edward Island has a sessional teaching opportunity in NURS 1010: Foundations of Nursing I, in the Fall Semester of 2019 academic year. This position is subject to final budgetary approval
NURS 1010: Foundations of Nursing I
This course is an introduction to the discipline of nursing and to the fundamental principles and skills of nursing practice. Students are introduced to primary health care and the Prince Edward Island conceptual model of nursing: A nursing perspective of primary health care. Clinical experiences throughout the semester are with healthy older adults in their own homes. Students learn beginning skills in communication, assessment, and psychomotor techniques through active involvement in classroom, lab and clinical conference settings.
Lecture/Seminar: Total 3 hours per week
Thursday and Friday (September 3 – December 20, 2019)
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Nursing or related health discipline. A PhD in Nursing or health field will be an asset. Previous experience in teaching is an asset.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster, and to those with experience in teaching university level courses.
