MTS Level 7 (With a Market Adjustment to MTS Level 9) - Biomedical Engineering Technologist - Graduate Studies and Research - Atlantic Veterinary College

The Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a full-time Biomedical Engineering Technologist. The position requires dynamic skills in testing, maintenance, repair, and inspection on a wide variety of equipment to ensure compliance and performance within regulatory and university standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of both medical and laboratory equipment located in the Atlantic Veterinary College
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
- Perform electrical safety inspections on equipment according to accepted hospital medical and laboratory standards
- Attend and participate in equipment training activities, related projects, and committees
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to staff concerning the safe operation and user maintenance of equipment
- Assist with equipment inventory related duties
- Perform pre-purchase evaluation and follow-up of new equipment acquisitions
- Circulate and respond to equipment advisory notices from equipment manufacturers as required
- Act as a resource in the resolution of equipment related issues
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Biomedical Engineering Technology program (preferred), or two-year Electronic Engineering Technology program
- A registered Certified Biomedical Engineering Technologist (CBET), or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) is preferred
- Experience servicing equipment in a hospital, medical laboratory, or research environment is required. Must have excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience in troubleshooting digital imaging equipment including but not limited to: x-ray, fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound is preferred
- Must possess the ability to interpret and utilize electronic schematics, mechanical drawings, computer systems, and hospital standards and practices as they apply to biomedical equipment service in a healthcare setting
- Must have good communications skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a team
