Dr. Patrick Burns (AVC) and Dr. Sundeep Singh (FSDE) are seeking one student research assistant to work on the design of an endotracheal tube cuff featuring real-time applied pressure monitoring.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enhance and refine the proof-of-concept model of a pressure-sensing endotracheal tube cuff developed by the previous Senior Design Team. This includes optimizing the design for improved functionality and integration.
  • Conduct rigorous testing under different conditions to assess reproducibility and repeatability of the device.
  • Conduct data analysis and prepare comprehensive reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be an undergraduate engineering student currently enrolled in UPEI.
  • Success ful completion of third-year design, Thermo Fluids I, II, and III courses with excellent grades is required.
  • Basic knowledge or proficiency in essential software tools such as Comsol, SolidWorks, and MATLAB is required. 
  • Preference will be given to students who have a desire to pursue a career in a similarly related biomedical engineering field.
  • Prior involvement in drafting scientific papers or delivering presentations at engineering conferences is highly advantageous.
  • The candidate should demonstrate a strong work ethic, accountability, and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary research team, alongside the ability to conduct independent research to meet project goals. 

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
