Under the guidance of the graduate student research assistant and the primary investigator, Dr. Margie Burns, assistant professor in the Faculty of Nursing at UPEI, the undergraduate student research assistant will be responsible for scholarly activities related to a research project titled “The experiences of individuals seeking and accessing gender affirming care on Prince Edward Island.”

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of the graduate student research assistant and primary investigator the undergraduate student research assistant will assist with research activities including:

  • Participant recruitment
  • Data transcription
  • Data cleaning and analysis
  • Assisting with report writing
  • Dissemination activities, and 
  • Other activities relating to this project

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current enrollment in a UPEI undergraduate program and ability to attend in-person research meetings
  • Strong understanding of trans, non-binary, Two Spirit and gender diverse communities and people
  • Knowledge of anti-racism and anti-oppressive practices and principles
  • Lived experiences of 2S/LGBTQIA+/ BIPOC identity is an asset
  • Experience in qualitative research activities is an asset
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability, initiative, good organizational skills, flexibility, ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to accurately follow instruction and attention to detail are important skills in this position
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are assets
