The Department of Religious Studies at The University of Prince Edward Island announces a sessional opening for the 2024 fall semester. We are seeking a qualified candidate to teach the following Religious Studies course: 

RS 2210 (Buddhism East and West)
This course is an introduction to Buddhism, the most influential and popular religion in East Asia. There is special emphasis on the historical development of its major doctrines, practices, and institutions in India, and their transformation in East Asia (China, Japan and Korea). The course studies the recent spread of schools such as Zen in Europe and North America, and also investigates their impact on Western religion and thought.

Three hours a week, 3 hours credit. This is an online/web course.

Qualifications:

Applicants with a PhD or equivalent in Religious Studies (or cognate programs) will be given priority, but those with a M.A. or equivalent are invited to apply. Teaching experience in this course (and/or similar East Asian religion/philosophy courses) is preferred. Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
