Under the supervision and guidance of the Faculty of Graduate Studies & Office of Research Services, the SPREE Student Coordinator will coordinate the Student Program for Research Engagement and Excellence (SPREE) and assist with documentation. The program engages undergraduate and graduate students completing research at UPEI in a series of lunch and learn workshops to develop their skills and knowledge in conducting high quality research and explore a range of research-based careers. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotion of SPREE and manage sign-up list
  • Organize weekly events (lunch and learns), including room booking and coordinating weekly speakers 
  • Coordinate research poster symposium wrap-up event 
  • Communications to SPREE members 
  • Maintain and update program Moodle site 
  • Other duties as required 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicant must be currently enrolled in post-secondary education, between the ages of 15-30 & be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment. (due to anticipated wage subsidy funding)
  • Applicant must have strong organizational skills
  • Applicant must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A demonstrated interest in research, and careers in research is considered an asset
  • Event planning experience is considered an asset

 

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
