Reporting directly to the Manager of UGME, the successful applicant is a crucial member of the UGME team. They will facilitate and implement course documents for faculty, community-based facilitators, and students. Coordination of teaching space in the CLSC. They will independently coordinate with students regarding all queries related to UGME clinical skills, including maintaining online course information. They will facilitate open communication between students and faculty related to UGME clinical skills. They will independently coordinate with faculty to plan and manage to facilitate the evaluation for all UGME clinical skills courses. They will independently coordinate and facilitate the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) stations. They will independently coordinate the maintenance of all grades related to UGME clinical skills using various databases. They will participate in various committees both locally and nationally related to clinical skills and performing other related duties as required. The successful applicant will be responsible for building and fostering synergistic relationships with Memorial University (MUN) Faculty of Medicine UGME administration and faculty leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring teaching space is secured for required learning
  • Facilitating and implementing course documents for faculty, community-based facilitators and students
  • Liaising with students regarding all queries as they relate to UGME clinical skills, including the maintenance of online course information
  • Facilitating communication between students and faculty related to UGME clinical skills
  • Coordinating with faculty to execute and facilitate the evaluation of all UGME clinical skills courses
  • Independently coordinate and facilitation of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) stations
  • Coordinating and maintaining grades as they relate to UGME clinical skills 
  • Participating in various committees, both locally and nationally, related to clinical skills
  • Ongoing collaboration with MUN UGME administration and faculty to ensure the alignment of University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) and Memorial University policies with national and international standards and to enhance the MD program and resources to support its delivery
  • Ongoing collaboration with stakeholders at the local, provincial, national and international levels to ensure the alignment of University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) policies with national and international standards and to enhance the MD program and resources to support its delivery
  • Independently develop solutions to issues arising in the dynamic educational environment
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a Degree in a health-related field
  • Experience (3-5 years) in program management in academia or a healthcare-related field or any equivalent combination of experience
  • Experience as a program coordinator would be an asset
  • Experience within a post-secondary institution would be considered an asset
  • This role requires a high degree of coordination with the academic support units within the Faculty of Medicine, including Health Sciences Information and Media Service (HSIMS), Clinical Learning and Simulation Centre (CLSC), and Clinical Faculty. As a result, the incumbent must demonstrate successful negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills are required
  • To excel in the position, it would be essential to possess excellent analytical and organizational skills, effective leadership and strategic thinking abilities, and a solid attention to detail
  • The successful candidate will be thorough, collegial, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate commitment
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, is required
  • Knowledge of Desire2Learn and One45 software programs would be considered assets
