May 1, 2025 to August 31, 2025 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding, and departmental requirements.)

The Department of Physics of the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a Laboratory Instructor to be responsible for up to 3 web-based laboratory sections of Physics 1210 (Physics for Life Sciences I) during the first Summer 2025 session and 2 web-based laboratory section of Physics 1220 (Physics for Life Sciences II) during the second Summer 2025 session. The work for this position will be completed online.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Familiarizing with online pre-set Physics 1210 and 1220 experiments and making minor lab programming adjustments
  • Communicating with students and answering online help forum messages 
  • Holding synchronous online help sessions
  • Marking lab assignments submitted through Moodle and Google documents
  • Coordinating Moodle-based activities and entering marks into the Moodle system
  • Other duties as assigned by the course instructor

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • B.Sc. in Physics, with a background in instructing introductory physics labs
  • Experience evaluating physics laboratory undergraduate work is an asset 
  • Experience assisting or instructing physics labs at UPEI is an asset 
  • Experience with using and editing Moodle activities is an asset
