Student Research Assistant - Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering
$17.60 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
March 24 – June 30, 2025
Dr. Aadesh Gokul, P.Eng., and Dr. Grant McSorley, P.Eng., Sustainable Design Engineering, are seeking applications for a student research assistant to help with a research project focused on integrating mobile technology and applications in Prince Edward Island's Smart Agriculture landscape. The student will participate in understanding the technology needs for enhancing PEI's agricultural industry and farming practices. The student will contribute to all study phases, including research design, data collection, analysis, and reporting of results
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help to develop a research ethics application for research involving human participation
- Help in conducting a comprehensive literature review related to agricultural industry challenges and futuristic technologies
- Assist in designing and distributing online surveys and conducting interviews with farmers and industry stakeholders
- Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data using statistical and thematic methods
- Prepare a project report
- Help in developing a draft of conference paper and presentation materials for knowledge dissemination
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current UPEI student with preference given to Sustainable Design Engineering students
- Strong academic standing
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of agricultural practices and mobile application development is an asset
