ADS Level 6 - French Language Program Officer - Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development - Student Experience Hub
$60,585 to $66,535 per annum, prorated to time and term, as per CUPE 1870
January 2, 2024 to August 2, 2024 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding, and departmental requirements)
The Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development (OCEPD) is seeking applications for the position of French Language Program Officer for a term contract. Reporting to the Director of Experiential Education, this position will focus on assisting with the “French for Government of PEI Employees” program and growing the OCEPD’s French language training capabilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The French Language Program Officer will:
- Oversee the administration, implementation, and any necessary revision of the “French for Government of PEI Employees” program
- Facilitate courses within the “French for Government of PEI Employees” program
- Create a schedule for the rollout of all courses and program activities within the within the “French for Government of PEI Employees” program, in consultation with the French Language Services Office
- Handle communication with the Public Service Commission in the implementation of the “French for Government of PEI Employees” program
- Manage participant registrations, record-keeping and program-related communications
- Liaise with student assistants to create a schedule to staff language conversation sessions and teacher’s assistant duties as part of the “French for Government of PEI Employees” program
- Analyze the “French for Government of PEI Employees” program and report back to OCEPD with a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) report concerning the program
- Collaborate with consultants and facilitators, fostering these relationships as project activities are carried out
- Create, via Moodle or another online learning program, asynchronous online courses for use in French language training
- Create a French Language Curriculum document for the OCEPD to guide future French language training, identifying key competencies at each level of language proficiency
- Generate reports to the government as required under the service agreement specifications
- Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of program quality, collecting feedback survey data and providing feedback to facilitators
- Contribute to any ongoing related French language training projects and activities in the OCEPD as required
- Other duties, as may be required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fully bilingual in both English and French
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages, Education, or a related field, with a Masters Degree related to French Language studies preferred
- Experience in curriculum development in French language training
- At least 2 years of experience in French language facilitation and training
- Experience in Adult Education, Instructional Design and/or Curriculum Development would be considered a strong asset
- Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and French; the covering letter and resume will be used to assess written communication skills
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of various forms of technology; extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products including advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills, Colleague, Moodle, 25Live, and myUPEI
- Demonstrated experience working in a diverse and busy (high-volume) client service environment, with superior interpersonal skills
- Intercultural competence and function as an effective member of a team
- Demonstrated superior customer service orientation and attention to detail; previous communications centered experience would be an asset
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
