The Department of English invites applications for the position of Sessional Instructor to teach ENGLISH 2340: Public Speaking Workshop in the Fall 2025 term subject to final budgetary approval. 

Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course. 

ENG 2340 – Public Speaking Workshop

English 2340 is an intensive practical course in public speaking that helps students from across the disciplines become confident oral communicators. By learning and applying the techniques that the very best speakers use, students will gain the knowledge and experience they need to overcome performance obstacles and ultimately to find their own voices. The overall aim of the course is to move participants towards an extemporaneous speaking style that they can carry with them through their studies and into their professional lives.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Previous experience teaching Public Speaking will be considered an asset. Minimal qualifications for eligible candidates are a Master’s degree in English. Preference will be given to applicants possessing a PhD in English.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
