The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is located on Epekwitk, part of the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaw nation. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, which recognize Mi'kmaw title and establish the ongoing relationship between the Mi'kmaw nation and the Crown. We are all treaty people.

The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1st, 2025, pending budgetary approval.

The Faculty of Education is committed to developing caring, compassionate and innovative teachers. We offer 12-month Bachelor of Education programs in English and in French Education. With special foci in Indigenous Education, International Education, and Adult Education our BEd programs have a strong focus on issues pertaining to diversity, equity and social justice in local and global communities. At the graduate level, the Master of Education degree is offered in both course-based and thesis-based streams in online or blended formats. We also offer an on-site PhD in Educational Studies. We are seeking the following new colleague to join a dynamic and resourceful team of educators. 

The ideal candidate will have expertise and experience in teaching university courses in science education. Expertise and experience in the areas of quantitative research methods, environmental education and STEAM are considered an asset. The successful candidate may be required to supervise BEd student teachers in their practica, and MEd and PhD thesis students. A record of excellence in research and teaching, or a demonstration of clear promise is required.  Service, such as committee work, to the Faculty of Education and the university will be expected. A valid driver’s license is required. Opportunities to teach in the graduate program are also available to qualified candidates.

Preferred candidates for this position will hold a completed doctoral degree in education in a related field. Those candidates who have all but completed the dissertation may be considered. A Bachelor of Education degree and a successful record of school teaching in the K-12 context as well as in a university context are required, as is a sound understanding of contemporary critical issues in education.  Experience in online teaching and the ability to teach in French are considered assets.
