Assistant Manager - Student Accounts - Financial Services
Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the Student Accounts unit. These duties include management of customer service functions related to student financial transactions and course inquiries, student accounts receivables and collections functions, student loans processing, and financial reporting functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing a positive customer service experience for all UPEI students relating to student financial accounts in a global environment
- Management oversight and support to student accounting functions and processes, including financial administration of:

- tuition and fee billing related to student registrations
- timely collections of student accounts receivable
- cash management and controls
- student loans and related financial aid processing
- tax reporting and external audit requirements

- Preparation of routine and ad hoc account analysis and reconciliation for reporting purposes
- Liaison with UPEI faculty and staff, and external agencies
- Management of unionized support staff
- Working in coordination with the Registrar’s Office management team to ensure accuracy of student financial and registrarial information
- Development and oversight of internal controls and financial information systems
- Addressing complex or difficult student account enquiries
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in Business or Commerce; a professional accounting designation would be an asset, but is not required
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; accounts receivable experience will be considered an asset
- Demonstrated leadership in customer service excellence
- Experience and skills in office management
- Detailed knowledge of and experience in working with computerized financial systems, spreadsheets and database software
- Proven organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication
