ADS - Research Assistant - Department of Health Management - Atlantic Veterinary College (Grant Funded) (Off Scale)
$51,000 per annum, prorated to time and term as per CUPE 1870 (Grant Funded) (Off Scale)
September 13, 2021 to November 19, 2021 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements)
The Department of Health Management at the Atlantic Veterinary College is currently seeking a research assistant for an equine research project. This position requires an enthusiastic individual capable of working independently, possesses excellent communication skills and has an ability to work in a team approach environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful applicant will:
- Assist the researcher in collecting data on farm
- May be required to restrain horses for examination
- Enter data into a database for statistical analysis
- Interact with participants and schedule farm visits
- Drive a university vehicle and must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage by university insurance
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of Grade 12
- Must have experience working and handling horses
- Knowledge of equine welfare is an asset
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be self-motivated and be able to work as part of a team, while working independently as required
- Experience with computers and data entry would be an asset
