Dr. Kenneth MacKinnon is looking for a graduate student to assist with a project which explores expressions of joy in educational leadership. This research explores the ways in which school principals experience and find joy in their work. It addresses increasing concerns surrounding work intensification amongst school principals. It seeks to highlight the joys which emerge within the work of principalship, a concept which has not been explored within principal work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Weekly meetings with supervisor to discuss progress
  • Conduct a scoping review of the literature surrounding joy and leadership
  • Conduct research surrounding arts-based methodologies and discuss these with supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to write clearly and concisely in English for academic purposes, and adjust writing based on mentoring and editing from supervisor. 
  • Skilled at attending to detail in research and writing
  • Interest in educational leadership
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in arts-based research 

This position is covered by a Collective Agreement between the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the University of Prince Edward Island. Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students.
