The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is seeking an undergraduate Research Assistant for its research project, entitled “The School Resource Officer (SRO) program in PEI.”

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contact and schedule research participants for interview 
  • Conduct interviews and facilitate focus group interviews with members
  • Transcribe audio-recorded interviews
  • Library search
  • Literature review
  • Analyze and code research data
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Must be a current UPEI Student
  • Field research/qualitative research methods courses
  • Previous experience with field research is a requirement
  • Strong familiarity with sociological and anthropological concepts
  • The ability to work independently and to perform tasks on short notice
  • Good writing skill
  • Ability to critically review library and Internet sources
  • The ability to use the transcription software
  • Must be reliable and dependable
  • Maturity and ability to exercise sound judgement
  • Being well organized will be considered a definite asset
