Management System Administration
The Health, Safety, and Environment team is here to assist you in fulfilling your health, safety, and environment responsibilities and to provide oversight and guidance on compliance. Safety is a responsibility shared by everyone on campus.
Area leaders, supervisors, Health and Safety Working Groups, and JOHSC members will be trained in their duties and responsibilities under the PEI Occupational Health and Safety Act and the standards set by the University. These may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Safety Committee Activities
- PEI Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- WHMIS Regulations
- HSE Management System Administration
- UPEI Inspection Procedure and Follow-up
- Incident Reporting/Investigation
Hazard Identification and Control
When critical hazards are identified, or if recommended controls place a great burden on resources, a hazard assessment must be performed. Hazard assessments must be completed through a collaborative approach which includes the supervisor, workers and other UPEI subject matter experts, such as the HSE team, Facilities Management, Human Resources, etc. Training and templates for Hazard assessments are available through the HSE Department.
Hazardous Products Inventory
All UPEI hazardous products must be labeled according to WHMIS 2015.
The HSE Department in collaboration with ITSS has created an inventory system. UPEI follows all WHMIS 2015 requirements.
Please refer to the Health, Safety, and Environment SharePoint site for more information.
