Candlelight Vigil in memory and honour of the victims of the Montreal massacre
The UPEI Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering invites the campus community to a candlelight vigil on Wednesday, December 6, at the Academic Staircase, to honour those who lost their lives or were injured in an act of violent misogyny on December 6, 1989 at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women provides an opportunity to commemorate the 14 women who were killed that day and the lives of all of those who have died as a result of gender-based violence.
On Dec. 6, we remember:
- Geneviève Bergeron
- Hélène Colgan
- Nathalie Croteau
- Barbara Daigneault
- Anne-Marie Edward

A commemorative display will also be set up near the entrance all day for those who wish to write messages of reflection and hope. Light refreshments and snacks will also be provided following the ceremony.
