Treaty Day, held annually on October 1 in Prince Edward Island, was proclaimed as an official celebration by the Honourable Dennis King, Premier of Prince Edward Island in 2019.

The purpose of Treaty Day is to educate the public about the covenant of Peace and Friendship Treaties that was signed between the Mi'kmaq and the British Crown in the 1700s to end hostilities and promote peaceful co-existence, as well as create public awareness about the Mi’kmaq culture and heritage to all Islanders.
