The Catherine Callbeck Centre for Entrepreneurship believes in nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit and empowering students to turn innovative ideas into impactful ventures. Our Entrepreneurship Centre is proud to host a range of exciting competitions designed to challenge, inspire, and support the next generation of business leaders, and there are additional supports in place like our Travel Fund to enable standout UPEI student companies to attend competitions outside of UPEI.

Pitch Battles

Join Forces with Experienced Entrepreneurs to Develop and Pitch Your Business Idea

Team up with fellow UPEI and Holland College students to come up with a business idea and compelling pitch over the course of one week. At the start of the event, we will pair you with an accomplished entrepreneur, and with their mentorship, you will explore and develop a business concept within a mystery sector that will be announced at the event's launch. Throughout the week, you and your teammates will collaborate to refine your idea and prepare it for presentation. At the end of the week, a public pitch event will take and you will pitch in front of a panel of judges for a shot at monetary prizes!

Pitch Battles – 2024 Food Edition took place over eight days, from November 6 to 14, with 41 students from 13 different programs at UPEI and Holland College participating! The winners of the 2024 round of Pitch Battles were:

The Catherine Callbeck Centre for Entrepreneurship and the Ocean Startup Project hosted a full-day event on November 29, 2024 called the Ocean Startup Activator—an exciting opportunity for visionary entrepreneurs and innovators passionate about ocean sustainability and marine technology. The challenge was designed to inspire and support bold solutions that address critical issues facing our oceans.

The Ocean Startup Activator is a prestigious competition that invited UPEI students to team up with local entrepreneurs to develop groundbreaking solutions for ocean-related challenges. Whether tackling pollution, advancing marine conservation, or creating new technologies for sustainable ocean use, many ideas were brought forward!

MacLauchlan Panther Pitch

The MacLauchlan Panther Pitch is the headline competition under the Harry W. MacLauchlan Entrepreneurship Program. The competition tasks students to create business model canvases, business plans, and pitches for their business ideas with the opportunity of winning startup money for written and/or pitching awards.
