Engineers Canada is celebrating three female engineers at UPEI as part of International Women in Engineering Day (INWED).
The Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, has been awarded $29,400 by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) for a project entitled “Youth Engagement in Veterinary Medicine: A Model to Enhance Indigenous Youth Connection to STEM.”
Congratulations to Dr. Frederick Kibenge, chair of the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at AVC, on the publication of his second book, Aquaculture Health Management: Design and Operation Approaches. The book is co-edited by Dr. Mark Powell, CEO of Marineholmen RASLab AS and adjunct professor of fish pathology with the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Bergen, Norway.
Anastasiya Missan, AVC Class of 2022, won first prize in the American Veterinary Medical History Society’s 2020 Fred Smithcors Veterinary History Essay Contest for her essay, “The Un-BEE-lievable History of Beekeeping.”

University of Prince Edward Island President and Vice-Chancellor Alaa Abd-El-Aziz issued a statement today on the passing of Saint Dunstan’s University alumnus and UPEI’s first Roman Catholic chaplain, the Reverend Gerard “Gerry” Tingley. Father Tingley passed away at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre in Charlottetown on Saturday, June 13, 2020.
