UPEI Panthers this Week (January 13–19)

The UPEI Hockey, Basketball, and Track and Field Panthers are looking forward to a week of competition at home and away. 

Friday, January 17
AT HOME:
7:00 pm: The UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers host the Dalhousie University Tigers at MacLauchlan Arena.

AWAY:
7:00 pm: The UPEI Women’s Hockey Panthers play the Dalhousie University Tigers in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Saturday, January 18
AT HOME:
6:00 pm: The UPEI Women’s Basketball Panthers host the Dalhousie University Tigers at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. UPEI Career Services and the UPEI Department of Development and Alumni Engagement are hosting a “Game On” activity before the women’s game. UPEI students and alumni are invited to come together at 5:30 pm in the gym to create paper airplanes and enjoy an opportunity to connect through conversation and a shared experience. They will then “fly” their planes onto the basketball court at half-time in the game, and the plane that lands closest to centre court wins a prize!

7:00 pm: The UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers host the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men at MacLauchlan Arena. This is “International Night” with a reception being held prior to the game. International students who are interested in learning about hockey can attend the reception where they will be paired with a student who knows the sport well and can teach them about it. The international students and their partners can take in the game together. 

8:00 pm: The UPEI Men’s Basketball Panthers host the Dalhousie University Tigers at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre.

The local detachment of the RCMP will also set up a booth at both basketball games, offering students and fans a chance to gather information about joining the force.

AWAY:
The UPEI Track and Field Panthers compete at the 2025 Athletics Nova Scotia Indoor Open at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Sunday, January 19
AT HOME:
3:00 pm: The UPEI Women’s Hockey Panthers host the University of New Brunswick Reds at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. A “Bell Let’s Talk” booth will be set up with information in recognition of Bell Let’s Talk Day on January 22, 2025.
