Rowan Gallagher and Jahmal Boursiquot named UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for September 16–22, 2024, are Rowan Gallagher (women’s rugby) and Jahmal Boursiquot (men’s soccer).

A first-year fullback and science student from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Gallagher has been one of the best rookies this season. She broke through with two tries in the Panthers’ 73-5 win over the Saint Mary's University Huskies on September 21.

“Rowan was pure class against Saint Mary’s, delivering an exceptional performance that showcased her speed and finishing ability,” said head coach James Voye.

Boursiquot, a first-year striker and business student from Ottawa, Ontario, broke a deadlock with a game-winning goal in the 54th minute of the Panthers’ 1-0 victory over the Mount Allison University Mounties on September 22. 

“Jahmal was a relentless threat in the games the team played last weekend against UNB and Mount Allison, consistently creating opportunities on offence,” said head coach Lewis Page. “His efforts paid off with a well-deserved winning goal against Mount Allison on Sunday.”
