The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Honourable Dr. Terrance M. Drew, visited the UPEI campus on May 22, 2024, for a brief meeting with Dr. Greg Keefe, UPEI’s interim president and vice-chancellor.

Prime Minister Drew was on PEI to attend and speak at the Global Sustainable Island Summit 2024 that was held at Crowbush, May 22–23. Th summit brought together industry leaders, innovators, and start-up companies from around the world to explore and discuss the innovative solutions capable of positively impacting island communities. 

Dr. Aitazaz A. Farooque, Professor and Associate Dean, Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation; Dr. Kuljeet Grewal, Assistant Professor, Sustainable Design Engineering; and the Hon. Diane Griffin, Chancellor of UPEI, also spoke at the summit.

Discussions and panels focused on sustainability and policymaking for islands; highlighting developments in renewable energy; green technology; achieving net-zero; and climate change mitigation.
