Vagabond Productions presents “Radium Girls” at UPEI Performing Arts Centre
Vagabond Productions will present Radium Girls by D.W. Gregory from March 13–16, 2024, in the theatre in the UPEI Performing Arts Centre. The doors open at 7:00 pm for a 7:30 pm curtain. Admission is “pay-what-you-can.”
The play tells the real-life stories of the young women who painted watch dials with radium paint, causing their untimely deaths. Their employers lied and used legal tactics to deny responsibility or pay compensation for the harm that they caused. They also tried to buy the women’s silence to protect their profits. The play tells the story of the women’s fight for justice, which they won in the end.
“While set in the past, I know audiences will find the play very timely,” said show director Greg Doran.
The play deals with mature themes and death. For more information, email Doran at gdoran@upei.ca.
