UPEI Basketball Panthers mark Black History Month on February 3
February is Black History Month, a time to honour the Black community, learn about different cultures that have helped shape Canada, and celebrate the Black athletes, coaches, and staff who are engrained in UPEI’s history.
The UPEI Women’s and Men’s Basketball Panthers host the Dalhousie University Tigers on Saturday, February 3, at 6:00 and 8:00 pm respectively at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. UPEI Athletics and Recreation is excited to partner with the UPEI Black Student Association and local designer Niyi Adeogun to make this Saturday a night to remember.
The lobby and gym will be decked out in the four colours that represent Black History Month. As part of the celebration, players will warm up in t-shirts designed by Adeogun. There will also be singers, and guest speaker Shura Hanna, president and director of communications with The Black Student Association, will speak about Black History Month.
