Grace Lancaster and Noah Sedore named UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for January 15–21, 2024, are Grace Lancaster (women’s basketball) and Noah Sedore (men’s hockey).
Lancaster was a big reason the UPEI Women’s Basketball Panthers came away with two road wins against the St. Francis Xavier University X-Women this weekend. The third-year guard and science student from Fall River, Nova Scotia, led the team in scoring both days, averaging 17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
“Grace stepped up in a big way in a crucial weekend at St. FX,” said head coach Matt Gamblin. “She was locked in on all parts of the floor and made big time plays to help us to come away with two important wins.”
Sedore is an arts student and men’s hockey forward from Sharon, Ontario. He continues to be one of the conference's best rookies after another strong week. The freshman made his presence felt during the game on January 18, scoring two goals and an assist in a 5-4 overtime win against the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus.
“Noah has transitioned well to AUS hockey this season. He had a great game against Moncton last week with two goals and an assist and played well in all areas of the ice,” said head coach Forbes MacPherson.
