Bianca Boutilier and Kaleb Pearson named UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for January 8–14, 2024, are Bianca Boutilier (women’s track and field) and Kaleb Pearson (men’s hockey).
Boutilier is a business student from Charlottetown, PEI. The third-year sprinter ran a personal best in the 60-metre dash on January 13 at the Moncton Open. She crossed the finish line in 8.03 seconds, which is second best in the AUS so far this season.
“Bianca continues to lower her personal bests in the AUS track and field competitions,” said head coach Colin MacAdam. “She ran a new personal best and had a strong run in her leg of the 4x200 relay, helping the Panthers to a victory.”
Pearson is an arts student and men’s hockey forward from St. Marys, Ontario. He played an excellent game against the Dalhousie Tigers on January 12, scoring two goals and adding three assists in the 7-2 win. The Panthers followed that up with a win against the Saint Francis Xavier X-Men on January 13, when the first-time assistant captain showed off his qualities as a leader on the team.
“Kaleb had another great weekend and continues to be an engine for us. His goal-scoring ability and leadership were on full display and helped us take four on the road,” said head coach Forbes MacPherson.
Go Panthers Go!
