Alaere Peterside and Noah Sedore named UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for November 27–December 3 are Alaere Peterside (track and field) and Noah Sedore (men’s hockey).
Peterside is a first-year science student from Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She cleared a height of 1.68 metres in the high jump at the Athletics Nova Scotia Last Chance Meet on December 2. The jump set a PEI provincial and UPEI record and is also the highest jump in U SPORTS so far this season.
“Alaere had a great competition in Halifax jumping 1.68m,” said coach Colin MacAdam. “She has worked very well with jumps coach Nelson Kwok to set a new UPEI high jump record.”
Sedore is an arts student and men’s hockey forward from Sharon, Ontario. He had his best game as a Panther on December 2 and had a hand in three goals in UPEI’s 4-0 shutout win over the Acadia University Axemen. The rookie forward finished the game with a goal and two assists.
“Noah has shown gradual improvement each week,” said head coach Forbes MacPherson. “He finished the first half of the game against Acadia very strong. “He competes hard and was able to chip in offensively this week.”
