Devon Lawlor and Kamari Scott named UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week
UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports over the previous week. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for November 14–20 are Devon Lawlor (women’s basketball) and Kamari Scott (men’s basketball).
Lawlor is a third-year guard for UPEI Women’s Basketball. The Millcove, PEI native and Faculty of Business student has been playing the best basketball of her UPEI career this season, averaging 13.1 points per game. Lawlor led the way on Saturday, November 25, scoring 21 points with five three-pointers in the Panthers’ loss to Acadia.
“Devon shot 5-of-10 from the three-point line against Acadia on Saturday to continue her great shooting over the first semester,” said UPEI Women’s Basketball head coach Matt Gamblin. “She is first in Canada in made threes and is leading the AUS in percentage at 47.1 per cent. She’s a tireless worker and very deserving of this recognition.”
Scott, from Malton, Ontario, is a fourth-year guard for UPEI Men’s Basketball. The business student had his most complete game of the season in Saturday’s win over the Acadia Axemen. Scott put up 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting with seven rebounds, five assists, and a block.
“Kamari had another impactful night for our group against the Axemen. He was effective on both ends of the court and was a big reason why we were successful," said UPEI Men’s Basketball head coach Darrell Glenn.
