The UPEI Healthy Campus Committee is offering new programs, activities, and savings to promote and encourage all UPEI staff and faculty to take advantage of exciting opportunities for health and wellness.

A UPEI Faculty and Staff Wellness Program Survey was conducted by the committee in December 2022. Based on the feedback from 310 staff and faculty members who responded to the survey, the Healthy Campus Committee developed a proposed plan for the next two years with support from the UPEI Employee Wellness Strategy and the Joint Benefits Advisory Committee.

“We are happy that we are able to provide some new and improved opportunities for UPEI staff and faculty to help with their health and wellness goals,” said Angela Marchbank, UPEI Fitness and Wellness Coordinator, and chair of the Healthy Campus Committee. “We are also very pleased to say that even more activities, events, and programs will be announced in the coming weeks.”

To register and for more information on all programs, staff and faculty can sign in to recreation.upei.ca by clicking on the UPEI LOGIN button, entering their UPEI email address and password, and then clicking on the icons listed for each item program or activity. All programs take place at the UPEI Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre.

Staff and faculty can join the club even if they cannot attend on Tuesdays at noon. For every 20 km of walking (at the track or elsewhere) participants earn a ballot for a weekly prize draw.

The purpose of the UPEI Healthy Campus Committee is to build capacity within the University of Prince Edward Island to apply an integrated, comprehensive, and employee-centered workplace health model. The model highlights leadership engagement and a supportive workplace culture, the enhancement of employee well-being, and the prevention of chronic disease and mental illness.
