Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for September 11–18 are Wendy Dadzie (women’s soccer) and Evan Couturier (men’s soccer).

Sophomore striker Wendy Dadzie is attending UPEI as a second-year business student from Accra, Ghana. She scored the game-winning goal against Université de Moncton on Friday night.

“Wendy was an attacking threat for the entire 90 minutes and was rewarded for her effort with the winning goal—her first as a Panther,” said head coach Lewis Page.

Evan Couturier, men’s soccer goalkeeper and fourth-year science student from Coverdale, New Brunswick, was credited with three saves and kept his team in the game until the final moments when Université de Moncton pulled out the 2-0 win.

“Evan made a number of key saves down the stretch as we pushed toward tying the game,” said head coach Lewis Page. “He kept us in it until the very end.”
