UPEI celebrates 2023 Homecoming Week from September 18 to 24
September 18 to 24 is UPEI Homecoming Week, featuring an exciting line-up of activities and events!
From Monday to Wednesday, the week features several events for UPEI students hosted by the UPEI Student Union in collaboration with the UPEI SVPRO as part of Consent Awareness Week, including a workshop about consent, a bath bomb DIY wellness event, a sex education session, and a pizza party.
On Wednesday, September 20, at 7:00 pm, trivia is the name of the game at The Fox and Crow! UPEI alumni Owen Shaw (BBA’21) will take you on a journey of music through the decades! The Fox and Crow will feature homecoming food and drink specials. All are welcome!
On Thursday, September 21, at 6:30 pm, the UPEI Alumni Association will present its 2023 Distinguished and Inspiring Young Alumni Awards at the UPEI Performing Arts Centre in the new residence building. Receiving Distinguished Alumni Awards are Dr. Mary Goodfellow, SDU 1965; Monica Campbell, BSc 1978; and Roger Sinclair, BBA 1979. The Inspiring Young Alumni Awards recipients are Danaiet Teame, BScN 2012; Tyler Coady, BA 2013; and Danté Bazard, BA 2016. On Friday, September 22, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, will be the official grand opening of the new Performing Arts Centre (PAC) and the revitalized Dr. Steel Recital Hall. The celebration will start in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall at 1:30 pm and then move to the PAC at 2:15 pm for an opening ceremony at 2:30 pm. Friday is also Green and White Day. Support UPEI Panther athletes by wearing green and white all day. Take a photo and post it to social media with the hashtag #UPEIHOCO for a chance to win some awesome UPEI swag!
At 3:30 pm, cheer on the women’s and men’s soccer teams at this year’s Homecoming Pep Rally hosted by the UPEI Sports Industry Society at the Fox and Crow! There will be food and drink specials, and free cheer gear while supplies last. Alumni who attend will also receive free tickets to Panther games while supplies last!
At 5:00 pm, the UPEI Panther Women’s soccer team plays Memorial University, and at 7:15 pm, the UPEI Men’s Panther soccer team plays Memorial’s men’s team.
Saturday, September 24, features the popular AVC Open House, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, offering a behind-the-scenes look at AVC and veterinary medicine. This event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Also on Saturday, the UPEI Women’s rugby team plays St. Francis Xavier at 2:00 pm.
Homecoming 2023 wraps up on Sunday, September 24, with the UPEI soccer teams playing the University of New Brunswick. The women take to the field at 1:00 pm, and the men at 3:15 pm.
