Supports, activities, and events for UPEI Students, April 11–14
The following message outlining student supports, activities, and events available during the strike was also emailed to UPEI students on behalf of UPEI Student Affairs on April 6, 2023.
Hello UPEI Students,
With the continuation of the UPEI Faculty Association strike, we are reaching out to ensure that you know we are open for service and are here to support you.
It’s also important to know that during a faculty strike—while classes, labs, instruction, etc. are suspended—the University remains open, and students are welcome to be on campus, use the library, and access student services.
Students will retain access to their UPEI email, myUPEI, and Moodle account (except where access to individual courses has been deactivated by the instructor). We encourage you to continue to work on assignments, readings, and research during the strike so that you will be prepared when classes resume. Please note that submission deadlines for assignments due during the strike period do not have to be met. Tests, quizzes, etc. that are scheduled during the strike will not take place.
The following schedule of events is for the week of April 11–14; all sessions are open to all UPEI students. More events will be added at a later date if needed. We will navigate this strike period together.
Campus Peer Support
All students are welcome to drop in at any point during our peer support sessions. Come chat and debrief with peers who draw on their own lived experience to empathize and share coping strategies and resources. Small-group or one-to-one conversations are available—whatever you need. Our peer supporters are trained, friendly, and want to help. Come once, come as often as you like. We’re here to listen.
