Frances MacWilliam and TJ Shea named UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for October 10–16 are Frances MacWilliam (women’s rugby) and TJ Shea (men’s hockey).
MacWilliam, a fifth-year prop and business student from Mill River, PEI, recorded a game high of 19 points on a try and seven conversions in a dominant 86-0 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies on Saturday.
"Frances has been incredible so far this season,” said head coach James Voye. “She has performed extremely well and is having her best AUS season to date. She finished second in the league scoring with a total of 60 points and has brought her veteran leadership to the pack."
UPEI men’s hockey forward and business student TJ Shea of Tignish, PEI, scored his first three goals of the season this past weekend, including two highlight-reel goals. The third-year player scored two in Friday's 5-2 win over the St. Francis Xavier X-Men. He added another goal the following day in a loss to Dalhousie.
"TJ had a great weekend for us. He took his game to another level against St. FX, followed it up against Dalhousie, and was rewarded in both games with goals. We need TJ to stay at that level," said head coach Forbes MacPherson.
