Record-high 113 UPEI student-athletes receive U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian recognition
The University of Prince Edward Island congratulates the 113 student-athletes who earned U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian status for the 2020–2021 season. The record-high number represents 57.6 per cent of UPEI's total student-athlete population of 196, and is one of the top percentages in Canada.
UPEI student-athletes continue to strive for excellence in sport, academics, and in the greater community. This level of academic achievement speaks volumes about their work ethic and to the quality of the coaches, faculty, staff, volunteers, and others who support them throughout the year. One special note is that all nine members of the UPEI Women’s Basketball team were named Academic All-Canadians, an admirable feat considering their success on the court as well.
“We are so proud of our student-athletes at UPEI are thrilled that they are being recognized at this national level,” said Jane Vessey, Director of UPEI Athletics and Recreation. “Their hard work, both in academics and athletics, especially during the pandemic, has clearly paid off. I wish them congratulations and continued success.”
In order to receive this national recognition, student-athletes had to achieve an academic standing of 80 per cent or higher during the 2020–2021 academic year.
Congratulations to UPEI’s U SPORTS Academic All-Canadians!
