COVID-19 Case on UPEI Campus; Possible Exposure Location

Dear Members of the UPEI Community,

I am writing to advise you that earlier today the PEI Chief Public Health Office (PEI CPHO) shared with us the news of a positive COVID-19 test result on the UPEI campus.

The PEI CPHO is managing the response to this positive case and is currently conducting contact tracing. The case has also resulted in the PEI CPHO identifying that there is a potential exposure site at UPEI, specifically the UPEI Robertson Library.

The University will continue to follow the direction of the PEI CPHO and we ask that you please visit their website for specific details and guidance about this possible COVID-19 exposure.

Out of an abundance of caution and under the recommendation of UPEI Health, Safety, and Environment (UPEI HSE), I have instructed Facilities Management to disinfect and conduct extra cleaning of high touch surfaces and all washrooms in the Library.

I will keep you updated with any further developments. Please contact UPEI Health, Safety, and Environment if you have any concerns at hse@upei.ca.

Yours truly,

Jackie Podger

Vice-President, Administration and Finance
