AVC alumnus receives national CVMA award
AVC alumnus Dr. Ameet Singh has been named the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association’s 2021 Small Animal Practitioner of the Year.
A member of AVC’s Class of 2006, Dr. Singh is currently a professor of small animal surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College. His clinical and research interests include minimally invasive surgery and surgical site infections. He is president of the Veterinary Endoscopy Society and is an American College of Veterinary Surgeons’ Founding Fellow in Minimally Invasive Surgery. He has published over 100 journal articles and taught numerous workshops and surgical courses internationally.
Dr. Singh’s award was among several presented to CVMA members for outstanding contributions to veterinary medicine during the organization’s annual national conference held in July. Because of COVID-19, the conference was held virtually.
In 2014, Dr. Singh was presented with an Inspiring Young Alumni Award from the University of Prince Edward Island and was named one of the “Top 40 Under 40 by the Guelph Mercury newspaper.
