UPEI announces the Panther Subway Athletes of the Week, November 18 to 24
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and dedication to their respective sports. Congratulations to Kaylee Dufresne and Elijah Miller, the UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for November 18 to 24.
Dufresne is a fourth-year forward on the UPEI women’s hockey team and a business major from Orleans, Ontario. The Panthers continued their winning ways in two weekend road games, beating the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University. Dufresne shone on the ice, notching a goal and an assist in both games. “Kaylee had a very strong weekend,” said coach Bruce Donaldson. “She set up the go-ahead goal against St. Thomas after winning the wall battle and driving towards the net. She picked up her own rebound and slid the puck over to Maria Clinton to finish a great play. In the UNB game she was on for the final 75 seconds, again outworking two UNB defenders and putting the puck in the empty net to secure the win.”
Miller is a rookie point guard on the UPEI Men’s basketball team and a business student from Etobicoke, Ontario. Miller led the Panthers in their decisive 83–70 win over Cape Breton University this weekend, scoring 30 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and making 2 steals. “Elijah’s just scratching the surface of his potential,” said coach Darrell Glenn. “He’s an excellent competitor who is always looking at ways to make the team better.”
Go Panthers Go!
