UPEI announces the Panther Subway Athletes of the Week, September 9 to 15
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student athletes for their achievements and dedication to their respective sports. Congratulations to Danielle Younker and Mohammad Jaber, the UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for September 9 to 15.
Danielle Younker is a fifth-year centre back on the UPEI women’s soccer team and a science student from Charlottetown, PEI. She was named the defensive player of the game for the Panthers home opener against Acadia University. “Danielle stepped up to defend corner after corner with her head,” said coach Glen Miller. “She was strong in tackling the opposition and coming out with the ball in the one-on-one battles, and she connected her passes on a consistent basis in transition to offence.”
Mohammad Jaber is a fourth-year striker on the UPEI men’s soccer team and a science major from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Jaber scored UPEI’s first goal of the season in the Panthers’ home opener against Acadia. “Moe was excellent against Acadia, scoring a goal and assisting on the game-winner,” said coach Lewis Page. “In the road loss to UNB, he led the attack and was a constant threat with his pace and power.”
Go Panthers Go!
