UPEI students raise awareness of AIDS during World AIDS Day 2011

UPEI invites members of the media to the following events important to the University, its students, staff, faculty and alumni (World Aids Day 2011-Getting to Zero events):
Who: UPEI students have created several events to support World Aids Day 2011-Getting to Zero
What: An AIDS information booth, Red Ribbon photo shoot and free documentary film screening will take place on World AIDS Day
Where: W.A. Murphy Student Centre, UPEI campus, 550 University Avenue, Charlottetown, PE
When: Thursday, December 1, 2011
(12:30-2 pm- Information Booth at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre
1:30 pm- Wear RED & be a part of the giant red ribbon photo shoot
4:30 pm- Free documentary film screening at the Wave (inside the W.A. Murphy Student Centre) WorldAIDScampaign.org)
Why: UPEI is pleased to host these student-driven events to support this world-wide strategy. The events on December 1 will help to raise awareness of AIDS and World AIDS Day 2011. In 2010 there were 1.8 million AIDS-related deaths, lower than the 2.2 million in 2005-Getting to Zero is the AIDS Strategy for 2011-2015. 'Zero New HIV Infections. Zero Discrimination. Zero AIDS Related Deaths.'
