Robertson Library and the International Student Office (ISO) invite you to join us for a presentation by celebrated speaker Dr. Tim Goddard in honour of International Education Week 2018, November 12th-16th. Dr. Goddard's talk is entitled Of Golden Eggs and Other Fables: Internationalization in a Time of Globalization. University students have always sought new opportunities to learn. There were an estimated 3.5 million international students in 2009, a number which had grown to 5 million in 2014 and is projected to reach 8 million in 2025 (British Council, 2018). Currently the most popular destination countries are the US, UK, and Canada. In this talk, Dr. J. Tim Goddard, M.S.M., professor of education, describes how some small Canadian universities, such as UPEI, are benefitting from this trend – but also notes that there are contrary political, economic, demographic, socio-cultural, and pedagogical indicators which must not be ignored. An educator for over 40 years, Goddard teaches and conducts research in the field of educational administration and leadership, with a focus on international development and education in fragile communities. He has extensive experience in the design and implementation of national and system-level educational policy in various post-conflict and post-colonial settings, including Afghanistan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Papua New Guinea, and indigenous communities across northern Canada. The event will be held at 12:30 pm in the LINC, Room 265, in Robertson Libary. Everyone is welcome!
