To cap off Health and Fitness Week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation has added a number of activities to its schedule. Check out our new Fitness Centre! HIIT Fitness Class Led by fitness instructor Maria Campbell. High intensity interval training class. Free for everyone. 9:30 - 10:30 am Free Weight - Lower Body Session Led by personal trainer Kris Lutwick. Learn to perform free weight exercises using dumbbells, barbells, plate-loaded and body-weighted exercises. (12 people max)   PRE-Registration Required! Available only for UPEI students, faculty, and staff. 10:00 - 11:00 am Yoga 101 Clinic Led by yoga instructor Rebecca Gass, you will learn how to pair your breath with movement in ways to release stress and decompress tension. Combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. Free for everyone. 10:30 - 11:30 am Powerlifting Session Led by personal trainer Kris Lutwick. Learn the basic technique of the squat, bench press and deadlift. A fundamental session to define this type of training, why it is important and how to get started. Activity will include review of proper posture when training. PRE-Registration Required! The BOSU Balance Trainer is the perfect accessory to complement a wide range of authentic Pilates exercises. You can learn to incorporate the BOSU ball into traditional mat and equipment exercises. Free for everyone. 12:30 - 1:30 pm Light up Your Core Session Led by personal trainer Mitch Caissy.
