Nowruz Celebration

The UPEI Iranian society is hosting a bilingual ceremony in Persian/Farsi and English on March 24 at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre to celebrate Nowruz. Nowruz (from "Now" meaning new and "Ruz" meaning day) marks the beginning of the Persian New Year. Nowruz is celebrated in many countries including Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, etc. It is celebrated on the first day of spring that marks a new beginning for all nature. 6:30-8:30 pm - Potluck dinner 8:30-10:30 pm - Entertainment (live music, poetry, and dance) 10:30-12:00 pm - Iranian DJ Tickets are $10 in advance until March 22 and can be purchased from: - PEI Photo Lab, 55 Queen Street, Charlottetown - Brits Fish and Chips, 41 University Avenue, Charlottetown - Emailing UPEI Iranian Society at: iraniansociety@upeisu.ca
