FSDE Seminar: Enabling Technologies for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) with Applications in Advanced Manufacturing

Posting Date(s)

Dr. Taufiq Rahman will be presenting a special research seminar on Tuesday, August 21, at 11:00 AM in SDE 202.

The National Research Council Canada based in London, ON has formed the connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) team to expand organizational capacity in the areas of autonomous driving and advanced manufacturing. Recognizing the common denominators involving the enabling technologies in both areas for connectivity, analytics, sensing, and perception, the CAV team of NRC-London is focusing on mid to high TRL (technology readiness level) solutions to help Canadian business enterprises remain competitive in the global market. Current focus areas for the CAV team include fusing multi-sensor data to improve AI perception for autonomous driving, real-time augmentation of ground-truth HD maps utilizing satellite images and crowd-sourced data, enhancing public safety against cyber intrusion in connected vehicles, and minimizing resource cost of development and testing of autonomous driving hardware and software by building virtual and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments. In order to deliver these projects, the CAV team is working with industry partners and university research teams. This presentation provides an overview of the current activities of the CAV team and the corresponding partnership opportunities.
