The UPEI Department of Music's annual Dr. Frances Gray Performance Competition Finals Recital will occur on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 7:30 pm at the Dr. Steel Recital Hall. This year's competition theme is contemporary music and five finalists from a pool of eleven outstanding performances have been selected for the finals. The performers include Ryan Drew (percussion), Alexandra Smith (mezzo soprano), Taylor Poirier (alto saxophone), Leah Jordan (clarinet), and Johanna Vessey (clarinet). Collaborative pianists, Frances McBurnie and Morgan Saunier, will be assisting these soloists. The evening will conclude with the presentation of awards as determined by the competition's panel of adjudicators: Donald Fraser, Kay Linkletter, Wendy Shilton, Lloyd King, and Louis Garson.
